On the afternoon of August 28, 2020, 119 representatives from Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and Xiangtan Central Hospital jointly contributed to the historic design of Xiangtan Jiuhua Central Hospital.

2 out of 6 conceptual design schemes were selected in the last round. The optimized and adjusted "Healing Harbor" scheme wins this time upon listening to the social expectation, the wisdom of the masses, the expert opinions and the hospital management experience. A future hospital bearing people’s expectation and health prospect therefore comes to the fore.
What the future hospital looks like
The construction of Xiangtan Jiuhua Central Hospital is a historic strategy choice for Xiangtan Economic Development Zone and Xiangtan Central Hospital. The estimated total investment of the hospital is about 1.4 billion yuan. This 213,000-sqm planned land area is expecting to offer 1,000 beds, a functional building area of 113,000 sqm and 1,717 planned parking spaces. The future hospital will realize the goals of separatingpedestrians and vehicles, medical staff and patients, andclean and dirty areas.
Based onthe design concept of "Smart Xiangjiang River and Healing Harbor", the "Healing Harbor" schemedisplays the layout borrowing the idea of"One River and Two Banks" to take the medical street as the axis, the outpatient module and therear services/medical technology support module as wings and form a shape of “One Axis and Two Wings”.
Taking "Future-oriented and Smart Hospital" as the functional planning, the future hospital will adopt the intelligent mode driven by big data, realizing the integration and compounding of hospital functions, the mobile terminal promotion of services and the platformation of operation.
Taking "leading the Bay Area and medical giant ships" as the shape intention.
What the hospital looks into future?
From the trend of public hospital reform, "high quality" should be the key word throughout the future hospital design, construction and development.
Building a high-quality development model requires high-quality planning and design. Technically, the "Healing Harbor" scheme has the following four characteristics:
1. Efficient functional module. The project insists on taking patients as the center, striving for platform functions and systematization of first aid, creating discipline clusters, realizing the separation of clean and dirty areas and protecting doctors and patients.
2. Double-layer spatial organization. The scheme divides the hospital into four entrances: outpatient entrance, emergency first aid entrance, admission visit entrance and administrative center entrance, so as to realize the diversion of admission for different groups of people. Each partition is seamlessly connected and open.
3. Humanized three-dimensional traffic. On the basis of pedestrians and vehicles separation and one-way circulation, the scheme moves the connection place of outpatient service to the underground, and realizes the three-dimensional separation similar to that in the airport and high-speed railway, with no restrictions in rainy days.
4. Ecological healing environment. The scheme not only ensures the quality of medical services, but also devotes itself to green buildings. It sets up seven levels of greening platforms, such as sinking garden, courtyard garden and roof garden, to improve the quality of building space and ensure full contact between man and nature.
When will the future hospital come
Next, Xiangtan Jiuhua Central Hospital will intensively carry out expert review, constructional plan and design and other links. It is expected that a groundbreaking ceremony will be held in late September.
The hospital is expected to be put into operation in August 2023.
