In the afternoon of November 25th, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nurses of Xiangtan Central Hospital participated in the first active video nursing lecture organized by MATAT, a non-government organization for high-level experts in Israel, in the electronic classroom of the Children's Diagnosis and Treatment Center. MATAT invited Goldsmith Ruth, the senior NICU nurse and clinical nursing teacher from Chaim Sheba Medical Center to share the case study of pulmonary interstitial emphysema (PIE) and persistent pulmonary hypertension of the newborn (PPHN).

During the lecture, Ruth reviewed, analyzed and commented on the nursing process of high-risk preterm suffering from PIE and persistent pulmonary hypertension, while also sharing the advanced and cutting-edge neonatal nursing technology abroad. Her explanations are simple and clear, and the hospital interpreter carefully interprets the content. Everyone has benefited a lot from listening.

In the question-and-answer session after the case study, Ruth gave detailed answers to the "kangaroo care", pain assessment, PICC placement and other questions raised by all of the audience.

Established in 1993, the Israeli Advanced Experts Organization (MATAT) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization whose purpose is to expand Israel's cooperation and goodwill by supplying practical knowledge to various countries. Since May 2019, MATAT has established a cooperative relationship with Xiangtan Central Hospital. 4 batches of experts and medical teams were sent to the hospital in order and actively engaged in ward round, consultations, surgery, lectures and other activities. With their guidance, Israel’s advanced medical technology and ideas were transmitted to China, and the two bodies also forged a deep friendship.

This year, due to the coronavirus epidemic, the exchanges and cooperation between the two bodies conducted through active video conference. At the end of the meeting, MATAT talked about the cooperation plan in the future. “We have a long-term cooperative relationship, and we are just like old friends. As impacted by covid-19, we decided to change the original method and continued our cooperation through online lectures. We hope we can soon resume the original mode of cooperation and exchange, and we are also welcome medical staff from Xiangtan Central Hospital to Israel for training, study, inspection and exchange."
